more sydney

okay...

i spent the 23th and the 24th mainly at this house in kettering (the town south of horbarth where i was living at this guys place who was quite nice, but never home, so i was there basically alone the whole time)... christmas eve was a bit lonely but didn't feel to depressing since i wasn't in christmas mood anywas... spent my days with reading (Great Expectations by Charles Dickins), eating, sleeping... which was actually quite nice since i really needed to relax a bit...

i'm in sydney now since yesterday... shanti whom i'm sharing a room with, also arrived today, as well as some other exile-adelaidians (Elaine, Giselle) whom i didn't meet yet though... all in all i think i'm going to have some quite exciting days...

The place that i'm staying at is quite nice... private home WITH A TRAMPOLIN! JIPEE!.. big house.. dog & cat (the dog is ok somehow for a dog...) no couchsurfing though, this time i have to pay :( still quite a reasonable price though :) dunno what i'm doing after that... gonna talk to a few people first what they are doing..

p.s.: the (she-)dog seems to passionately practice auto-cunilingus quite regularly...

Sydney

So! arrived in sydney yesterday! in contrast to tasmania it's nice and warm here :) hope i'll manage to go to the beach tomorrow or something... feeling a bit sick at the moment... gonna write more later...

sooo... at the moment i'm sitting at a couchsurfing host a bit south of horbath (i actually got 2 couchsurfing hosts here.. the one i'm staying this night at and the one that i stayed the last night at and will continue to stay at tomorrow... confused?)
there are also 2 people from germany and one canadian here... kinda crowded :) the 2 germans just came from the overland track (a 5 day walking track trough the tasmanian rainforest... but with huts on the way and stuff... not toooo advanterous i guess when the weather is nice...)

but i think i'll rather write about my last week first..

people:

JACK: Originaly from england, traveled the whole world (complete with tracking trough south america and the himalayas, and visiting his favourite yogi at india) until he found his girl in tasmania where he then settled down and started his vegetable farm.. he's also teaching yoga but since st marys is a 600 people town his classes are rather small one could say... (1-3 people at the moment it seams..)

LIZ: Jacks partner... makes fudge (chocolate+milk+falvour) and wraps it up with a cool vacouumizer machine thingy... in contrast to jack she has left tasmania only once... for thailand.. last christmas... pitfully my camera didn't catch a photo of her :(


IAN: Professioanl Wwoofer.. despite dooing nothing except wwoofing the last 2 years (and having wwoofed intensively for 6 years before that) he didn't ger around much... i think tasmania was the furthest his travels took him... he stayed around his home city before that (newcastle)

i mainly spent my time cutting down Bracken Fern and collecting rasbarries... and organizing my travels and stuff.. climbed a few hills (okay... one hill) and so on... was a nice stay.. well...

When I left, i first hitchhiked to Bicheno (with a nice guy.. coleminer... with "LOVE" and "HATE" tattooed on his knuckles...) which is a small and nice seaside town.. and continued the next day to coles bay / freycinet national park which was also quite okay.. nothing much interessting to tell you but there though...

actually i'm also not really in the mood for writing anymore ;)

well a bit about my situation here though:

im staying at some 60+ year old man's place 30km sotuh of horbat (tasmanias captial city), except for tonight where i'm staying at a married couple's (with 6 children!) place who also host 3 other couchsurfers this night... very nice place and very nice people..
the old man is also quite an interessting fellow... his house looks a bit like a workshop... his yard is full of timber (he's a hobby woodworker)... he's planning on moving in with his fiance (whome he'll mary in a few months) though and will use the house as wood storage then..

oh and he's got 2 sheep and one of those llama like things :)

At the mountains of madness..

soo, just came back from yoga lesson (more an that later...) and now i can write more freely :) People were already sleeping here yesterday so i didn't want to wake them up.. i type rather loudly as some of you might know ;)

My final day at cradle mountain was suprisingly sunny :) took a walk around lake dove and a bit trough cradle valley.. very lovely place.. didn't have to pay the entry fee (you have to pay entry fees for all tasmanien national parks) since it was the 25th aniversary of the areas declaration as world heritage area :)..

at 3pm i catched a bus to launceston, which is quite a nice town.. apearently there was an elton john concert there that night which could be heared troughout the whole city and kinda kept me from sleeping.. very anoying since i had to catch a bus at 8:30 the following morning 8[

well, now im at st marrys at my farm, the work is not to hard and i only work 4 hours each day.. people are nice.. a second wwoofer is also here (and australien guy who spent his last 2 years just on wwoofing)... one of the farmguys is yoga teacher and i enjoyed my first free yoga lesson today <8]>

Cold and Wet

my current residence

hi guys :) at the moment im sitting at some internet-terminalish thing close to the cradle mountain national park... . Vegetation-type here would be temperate rain forest.. that's kinda how it is here: forestish, temperate (meaning "cold" in this connection) and constantly raining since i arrived here yesterday morning... at least i got a nice hut and am not dependent on my 15$ tent... the woods are beautifull though.. everything is full of green, blue, orange and yellowish lichens (z.d. Flechten) as well as moss and other stuff... oh and LOTS of possums... well... needed a 6 hours drying session at a fireplace after my 3 hours walking session yesterday ... tomorrow i'll be heading of to Launceston, where i will finaly catch the bus to my farm on sunday :) yehaw!

Today i walked from the place where i'm staying first to fitzroy, the artsy suburb of melbourne (suburbs are not adjacent cities but more like the disctricts-system in vienna).. that was a good 2 hour walk, but quite a nice one... the place itself was also quite interessting, lots of nice restaurants and stores and stuff... definitly a place to check out... well... apart from that nothing much happened today, so im gonna sum up the last few days here now..

Eureka Tower: Highest building in Melbourne (88 stories high) with the fastest lift in the southern hemisphere (!!!). quite a nice viewfrom there :)



Melbourne Aquarium: Cool weird creatures, like the japanese spider crabs (http://www.iol.ie/~seaworld/data/Crab.htm) and a nice tube trough which you can walk with sharks and stingrays swimming over your head (especially the stingrays were amazing :) )

Suzuki Night Market

market that starts in the early evening... 17-2200 or so... free life music, lots of cool stuff to buy.. at a tea i eavesdropped on a conversation between one of the clerks and a local farmer who said that hes manufacturing greentea himself, but his stuff is exported to japan and then reimported from there... hehe... prolly thats why noone knows of australian green tea... (there is australian black tea, but it seams not to be to popular)

Victoria Market

i also visitied victoria market by day, and its quite a nice place to get cheap vegetables :) even nicer than the adelaide central market...

i'm sitting at my couchsurfing accommodation in richmond (suburb of melbourne, 10mins from the inner city) right now writing this blog on a supertrandy mac-book. the guys here are quite nice. one circus artist, a performance-arts student and a girl that also does/did something circus related when she was younger if i got it all correct... but lets start from the beginning:

24th of november

Farewell Dinner

Kaki King @ Wah Bar

Farewell dinner at chhavie's place with the usual suspects (soupreya, roshan, basically the whole india-connection) We made coke pancakes! (due to budget reasons the brownish liquid kind, not the whitish powederish kind). after that i went to the kaki king concert at the adelaide festival center (was a part of the adelaide guitar festival) which was quite amazing... it's hot when a girl knows how to use a loop pedal..
then i took a taxi to shanti's place in glenelg (she just moved there on that day) (my housing conctracrt ended on that day, so i couldnt return to my former place).

25th of november... and so it begins

french people pick stefan up, french people pick theresa up, all together try to fit all the laguage in the car for about an hour... and finaly succeed... all people happy... auto makes brum brum!
on the first day we stopped at the murray river mouth, which wasn't all that exciting except for HEAPS (aussi slang!) of cool birds.. second stop was the naracoorte caves (or something like that) national park, which was closed sadly 8( so we continued without having seen those amazing caves (SA's only world heritage site!!) we finally slept in our tent on the lawn of a backpackers hotel (!!) since the owner appearently wasn't there.. i recharged my mobile phone over night in one of the common rooms and my simcard got stolen 8( .. well.. that's nearly the same amount of money lost that i saved by not paying for the housing so it kinda doesn't matter all that much... was just very annoying getting the card activated (in australia, as well as usa as far as i know, customer support calls get redirected to india (!!!) because the callcenter workforce is a lot cheaper there... something i allready knew from roshan but could experience firsthand on tha occasion!)

26th of november

Otway national park... best beach i've ever seen.. nice sand slope that was cool for some downhill-rolling action :). Night at bush camping grounds... grunting koalas (appearently they sound like angry pigs when they grunt... hard to believe but true) and possums jumping swiftly trough the trees... actually quite a scarry soundscape when youre in a tent in the dark ;)

27th of november



Beach! did some rock climbing... hurt myself a bit on the knees because i decided rather to jump the jump instead of walk the walk (hey, would have been a perfectly sane thing to do if i had had shoes).
nothing much else happened before we arrived in melbourne though...
I spent my first night in melbourne in the king street backpackers, which seams to be a nice place, before moving to my cs accomodation the next day in the evening

now im definitly to lazy to write more ;) sorry, rest will come later this week

nagut scooter war anscheinend ausverkauft unerwarterweise :( dafür gabs ne nette ersatzparty, und jez gehtsmal zum strand (fkk style)

work work work

so... letzte große abgabe fertig.. jez gehts ans lernen für prüfungen... wird zwar nicht so viel aba in wirklichkeit is da doch noch einiges an arbeit nötig :( naja... was solls..
nach melbourne fahr ich mal mit ein paar franzosen wenn ich das richtig sehe.. bisncho gespannt wies dann weitergeht, habja ned wirklich einen definitiven plan (zur zeit ist aba kaffee ernte wenn ich das richtig mitbekommen hab... vieleicht arbeit ich ja auf ner kaffee plantage für ne woche oder so :) )
und ein tolles, zurzeit von mir noch geheimgehaltenes konzert wird es hier bald geben auf dass ich schauen werde... um euch einbischen gespannt zu lassen..

A Tale of Terror / Denen ni Shisu

hab gerade snow white, a tale of terror geschaut :) wunderdüstere schneewittchen verfilmung mit Sigourney Weaver als (wunderbar böse) böse stiefmutter, und relativ angsteinflößenden (und relativ großen) zwergen. Was aufgefallen ist: schneewitchen pflückt einen apfel von einer Eiche (??!!) und der leo spielt anscheinend als bärtiger lautenspieler eine statistenrolle... auserdem ismir bewusst geworden dass im englischen Snow White anscheinend sowohl schneewittchen wie auch schneeweißchen (aus schneeweißchen und rosenrot) bezeichnet (!) (!!!SKANDAL!!!). vieleicht weniger kreativ wie die meta-rotkäpchen verfilmung company of wolves (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087075/), aber durchaus voller lieber ideen ("hey ich bade mein (vor mehren jahren jahren) totegeborenes kindes in blut und samen seines vaters. das sollte es wieder zum leben erwecken")

Letztens auch Denen ni Shisu (zu deutsch Pastoral - to die in the country) gesehen, mit einem jungen, wenn auch hässlichem, Kan Mikami in einer nebenrolle. Eigendlich genau wassman sich unter einem kunstfilm aus dem japan der 70er vorstellen würde... Bunt, wunderhübsche kamera einstellungen, etwas langweilig, dafür aber mit wunderbar unnötigen sexszene dann und wann ;) auserdem gibt es einen bodybildenden liliputaner mit iro... . Das tollste ishalt der soundtrack (J.A. Seazer, die neue jahrhundertsentdeckung von sabine) bzw vorallem dass es auch untertitel zu den liedern gibt :)

einen weiteren sushiabend ohne fischvergiftung überlebt :) war ganz lustig... wohnmöglichkeit in sydney über silvester habich jez auch (dank shanti) :) bin sicher das is mindestens so toll wie fasching in mödling

Mobil..

Juhu! habs geschaft mir ein mobiltelefon zu erschnorren... simcard krieg ich heut abend... :). in hinblick auf meinen wwoofing plan für dezember/jänner sicher überaus nützlich...
habnurmehr 2 große abgaben eigendlich.. wenn ich die eine (environment, economy and culture) gescheit schaff, brauch ich (theoretisch) die prüfung nimmer machen, und beim anderen fach (digital image analysis) bin ich quasi schon durch... glaubich zumindest ;) wies beim letzten auschaut muss ich dann noch in erfahrung bringen aba auch gut... also eigendlich is der haupt-uni-stress vorbei :)

The Underground

sooo.. jetzt war ich hier also auch mal auf nem konzert

war eigendlich ganz lieb, vor 6-7 jahren hätt ich die bands sicher alle cool gefunden ;) waren doch 5 statt 2 bands... gab doch einige unterscfhiede zu unserer musikszene mussman sagen

• wie schon erwähnt, kein alkohol und keine zigaretten --> tatsächlich atembare luft vor ort
• das konzert fing pünktlich um 1830 (!!!) an und war pünktlich um 2200 aus (!!!!!!)
  
• jede band spielte nur 30minuten laut plan, und wurde immer in de rzeit fertig, keien verzögerungen (!)
• es gab christliche informationsbroschüren vorrorts (das christliche moral wahr anscheinend KEIN scherz)
• der altersdurchschnitt war bei 14 oder so... (nagut das kann bei uns ja auch vorkommen auf den falschen events)
• Ohrstöpsel kosten geld

nunja die bands waren alle ganz lieb.. junge leute in engen hosen.. alles sehr metalcore bis grindcore lastig... eine band war einbichen doomiger die war dann auch ganz okay stellenweise (Slowly Build.Weapon), waren aba eigendlich auch sehr unspannend... Mit posthardcore/mathcore hatte eigendlich keine der bands wirklich was zu tuen... war aba eh fast zu befürchten.. naja... trozdem tshirt gekauft von the rivalry weil die eigendlich ganz lieb wahren und das tshirt fesch war ;)

Hot Hot Hot!

gestern erstmal richtig badewetter gehabt... 34°.. leider war das wasser noch etwas kalt
heut is schon den ganzen tag superschwühl... richtig schönes nakedei wetter.. leider is für montag/dienstag regen angesagt.. aba das is eh gut muss dann eh anfangen an meinen assignments zu arbeiten.

Party gestern is ausgefallen (zu viel sonne erwischt untertags und asuserdem müd gewesen), kayaking heute auch (zu windig)... dafür steht das konzert heut abend noch... binja schon gespannt ob australischer mathcore was kann.. eigendlich könnt das ganze auch ziemlich furchtbar werden... das konzert fängt um 1800 an und in der location herrscht rauchverbot und alkohol verkaufen dürfen sie auch keinen... auserdem werben sie auf ihrer seite mit "guter christlicher moral"... einbischen kontrast zu ekh & co bei uns besteht da ja schon... naja.. rock n roll halt...

sooo... da bin ich wieder. ich hab gedacht ich illustriere mal einbischen mein wohn-umfeld für euch. hier kannman ja jez auch unkompliziert bilder reinhängen :)

naja sonnst superviel termin-kollision dieses wochenende wiedermal... parties, konzerte, kochabende, ausflüge, alles gleichzeitig... binschon gespannt wied as dann wird.. am besten bleib ich zuhaus und schau bundies...
wenn das mim wetter so weitergeht kannmana uch bald schwimmen gehen :)

uni stress lässt auch langsam nach, hab jez keinen montag mehr, und nur mehr 2 (gut, große und zeitaufwendige) assignments, aba dafür allesa dnere ausm weg (auser prüfungen... aba um die machichmir jez ned so viele sorgen).. also dürft scho ganz ok werden das nächste monat..

war jez hier auch beim ikea, und man kann die wagerln nicht mit auf den parkplatz nehmen hier! gibt so ne ladezone woman sie abstellen kann und dann mim auto hinfahren muss... sonnst is alles gleich wie bei uns jedoch...

und kartoffelpüre mit rohen zwiebeln reingeschnitten ist voll toll

So, ab jetzt poste ich mal hier.. . wobistdujetzt geht mir echt ziemlich auf die nerven... interessante sachen zu sagen habich trozdem nicht..

Wwoofing...

So.. für die leute die sich das gefragt haben.. hab jez die ergebnisse von der photo competion und den 1. platz in der "allgemein" kartegorie gemacht.. war ein essensgutschein den ich auch prompt eingelöst hab . nagut.. dann hab ich mich noch bei Wwoofing (http://www.wwoof.com.au/) angemeldet, und eine couchsurfing unterkunf in melbourne gechecked (also hoffentlich wird das was). binja schon gespannt... sonnst is ned viel passiert ausser dass ich im stress bin wegen einer präsentation... aja und meine unisachen sind bisjez auch alle gut verlaufen, für die leute die sich das fragen...

Museum of South Australia & The Tea Shop

so.. heute nach der uni (also am frühen nachmittag) mit der theresa nach adelaide reingefahren und sich das Museum of South Australia angeschaut. sehr spannend eigendlich... und gratis eintritt.. auch recht riesig dafür.. und sie hatten eine nachgebaute, sich über 3 stockwerke erstreckende riesenkrake (!) sehr beeindruckend.. und viel aborigine kram natürlich...

danach haben wir in den "thea tea shop" geschaut.. ein recht nettes taiwanesisches raustaurant auf welches ich durch internetrecherchen aufmerksam geworden bin..

Nachdem wir zuerst rumüberlegt haben weil die speisen doch sehr unspektakulär geklungen haben (speisekarte war in der kartegorie "reis mit gemüse" "reis mit tofu und sose") haben wir uns doch reingetraut.. zum trinken hab ich einen "lavender milk tea" bestellt, und irgendwas mit fritiertem gemüse. nachdem ich sie gefragt hatte ob sie auch tea zum mitnachhausenemen verkaufen meinten sie sowas wie "ja, aba der teeverkäufer ist jetzt grade nicht da, wartet bitte auf ihn"... also in gebrochenem asiatenenglisch natürlich...
während wir auf unser essen warteten kam der mann dann auch prompt (ein junger taiwanese) der uns nach einer kurzen, schwer verständlichen konversation in den keller mitgenommen hat (was die theresa schonmal irgendwie beängstigt hat) wo wir dann prompt eine taiwanische teezeremonie vorgeführt bekommen haben (dürfte der chinieschischen sehr ähnlich sein). Die theresa fand das weiter beängstigend, ich glaube weil sie sich das ganze wie ein bösartiges, heidnisches ritual vorgestellt hat.. vor dem tee hatte sie auch angst.. lies sich dann aba dazu überreden doch was zu trinken.. alles in allem sehr spannend aufjedenfall.. während dieser verkostung haben wir auch unser essen serviert bekommen.

der Lavendel-milchtee war schonmal sehr toll.. quasi wie ein milk-shake, aber mit sehr eigenem geschmak, toll aufjednefall.. das essen war wieder der unspektakulären beschreibung auch sehr sehr gut! wahrscheinlich sogar das beste restaurant in dem ich hier war bis jetzt! hellauf begeistert!. nunja... nachdem wir fertig gegessen hatten, im zuge der teezermonie gratis tee zum ladenpreis von sicher 5-10 dollar verkostet hatten (war sehr teurer tee) waren wir aufbruchsbereit. ich habmich noch mit 50 gram teuren, dafür sehr guten (vakuumverpackten!), hochland-oolong aus taiwan eingedeckt.

dann sind wir zum central market, habmir nochmal einbischen übeteurten tee gekauft (japanischen bio houjicha = eine art von geröstetem grüntee, sehr eigener, leicht säuerlicher geschmack, auch ziemlich toll!)
und jez bin ich eigendlich schon zuhaus, und muss auch gleich wieder weg... (abendessen bei elaine, nacher pokern bei ihrem australischen freund)

aja und morgen gehts nach st. kilda mangroven anschauen! binschon gespannt!

so die ferien gehen zu ende, und einiges ist passiert... also nix besonders spannendes, aber in nem wildtier park gewesen mit känguru füttern/streicheln und so.. das war ganz lieb.. der welt kleinste pinguine gesehen... adelaide abissi ausgeforscht.. koreanische trommler im festivalcenter angeschaut (http://www.dulsori.com/)... das war toll.. also zugabe sinds dann mit kleinen trommeln ins foyer migriert wo sie nochmal ordentlich zum tanz aufgespielt haben.. relativ grandios bis darauf dass sie auf die idee gekommen sind während eines lieder die "ole ole ole" melodie anzuspielen 8| sonnst wars aba echt gut... auch wenn dass das ganze jez unglaubwürdig erscheinen lässt.. naja...
jezmal schreiben anfangen, viel zu tuen leider...

wir waren letztens in hahndorf (die älteste deutsche siedlung in südaustralien oder so, gibt aba keine deutschen mehr dort,dafür viel toursimus kitsch mit deutschland bezug ) und unserer fahrer hat den autoschlüssel stecken lassen. gottseidank hab ich vergessen meine autotür zuzusperren deswegen sindwir trozdem reingekommen

Mir scheint ich habe in der letzten woche 3 muscal-style filme gesehen 8| Zuerst die Buffy Musical Folge, dann "Tomorrow May Not Be" (So ne superkitschige Bollywood produktion) und jetz Cannibal - The Musical. verrückt...
und wenn die asiatin in meinem nebenzimmer (also eigendlich zimmer diagonal gegenüber)lacht klingt das immer als hätte sie einen nervenzusammenbruch 8| naja
Und die Elaine und die Shanti schauen gerade requiem for a dream, werd mir nacher mal die sadistische freude gönnen bei ihnen vorbeizuschauen wenn sie fertig sind und schauen wie sie auf den film reagiert haben

DIE HABEN HIER HERMAN NIETSCH TAPES IN DER BIBLIOTHEK!!! (und viel anderes leckeres zeuchs, gottseidank auf auf cd ) und filme haben sie auch tolle! wiso hat unsere bib nur fachliteratur das is doof

in den letzten 2 tagen haben sich 4 (!!) leute bei mir aufgeregt dass ich dieses blog so wenig update! dafür stell ich doch zumindestens braf photos rauf (hoelk.aminus3.com) das is doch eh viel besser..

es passiert halt so wenig erzählenswertes
war einpaarmal draussen und hab lustige viecher gesehen, ansonnsten muss ich viel für die uni lernen. auserdem is dieses blog sowiso doof. und studivz ist eine sehr billige facebook imitation is mir heute aufegefallen (hier haben nähmlich alle leute facebook deswegen hab ich das jetzt auch!)
